PA Patent Launches Dedicated Legal Resource For Under-Resourced Inventors, Makers, Startups + Nonprofits Statewide

PHILADELPHIA – On February 17, 2016 from 6:30-8pm, the Arts + Business Council of Greater Philadelphia (ABC), through its Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (PVLA) program, is launching PA Patent, a statewide partnership with firms around the Commonwealth and with assistance from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), to provide under-resourced inventors, makers, startups and nonprofits with the assistance of pro bono patent attorneys. Arts + Culture Board Service: Develop Your Career and Community

Rob Penn is Director of IP Video Product Operations at Comcast and completed our Business on Board program last May.  His path to the Arts + Business Council is an interesting one.

When Rob joined Comcast in 2009, his management recommended he consider joining a board as a way to expand his view on career and community. He tucked it away as an interesting suggestion.

But when Rob pitched a music product idea with a local arts and education angle to a different senior leader, her recommendation surprised him.  She said, “That’s an interesting idea. Why don’t you join a board?”
