Next week, we will be bringing together healthcare, political, and neighborhood leaders to continue the conversation of not only how we create safer and healthier neighborhoods across Philadelphia, but the importance of why we need to.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiative

The Chamber, in both its values and practices, is committed to inclusion and excellence in the management of all diverse people irrespective of differences. This means that there shall be no barriers to participation in any activity of this Chamber on the basis of economic position, gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or disability. We recognize that diverse perspectives are important and necessary for responsible and representative decisionmaking. We believe inclusiveness is a fundamental principle of every organization that enhances its ability to respond more effectively to changing demographics and needs. We affirm our commitment to reflecting the diversity of the Greater Philadelphia region and the members of the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia.

DEI VISION

The Chamber’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiative focuses on economic competitiveness based on three key focus areas while highlighting diverse employee populations that are underrepresented in the region.

DEI FOCUS AREAS

  • Workplace: Adopting policies and practices that include people who have historically been absent from your organization.
  • Workforce: Concerted effort to recruit qualified employees from traditionally underrepresented groups.
  • Marketplace: More deeply involve minority-owned enterprises and consumers in the regional economy and recognize the enormous purchasing power of minority groups.

DEI STATEMENT

As an advocate of the regional business community, the Chamber recognizes that addressing the evolving demographic changes in our region is fundamental to the growth and sustainability of our members. Creating an inclusive and equitable environment that engages individuals reflective of the full spectrum of our region strengthens our organizations and is key to the success of Greater Philadelphia as a whole.

CEO ACCESS NETWORK

The CEO Access Network was launched as a means to continue diversifying the Chamber’s leadership and membership, advance minority businesses, and improve economic conditions in our city and region. Established C-suite Executives, many of whom are on the Chamber’s Board and Executive Committee, are matched with diverse (people with disabilities, LGBTQ, minorities, veterans, and women) small business leaders (owners, founders, or presidents) to build relationships, offer counsel, and provide networking and business development opportunities. DEI PROGRAM SERIES

Initiated in 2008, the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia’s Diversity, Equity& Inclusion initiative (DEI) is designed to offer practical strategies to position diversity at the centerpiece of business’ strategy for growth in three target areas: workplace, workforce, and marketplace. Using this framework the programming addresses how diversity is fueling greater innovation and economic competitiveness in the region and how equity and inclusion can enable organizations to reap the benefits of this potential. Made up of four programs, each has a featured speaker or high-level panel discussion about a key topic in the DEI landscape.
