As we look ahead to 2026, we are on the brink of an extraordinary opportunity that promises to bring vast economic impact to Greater Philadelphia. With the semi-quincentennial celebration of the United States, the 2026 MLB All-Star Game, and the FIFA World Cup 26, one of the most prestigious sporting events globally, we will welcome international visitors to our region and mark a historic moment for our nation.
In November, Philadelphia Soccer 2026 released new details on the anticipated economic impact of the FIFA World Cup 26. The event is expected to generate approximately $770 million for Greater Philadelphia, create 6,600 jobs, and generate $51 million in tax revenue, providing the largest financial boost from a single sporting event or celebration ever recorded in Pennsylvania. Such a significant influx of revenue will not only benefit Philadelphia but extend as far as York County, Pennsylvania, and New Castle County, Delaware, ensuring a widespread economic uplift for our entire region.
With six matches coming to Lincoln Financial Field and the FIFA Fan Festival 2026 taking place at Lemon Hill Park throughout June and July, this celebration is expected to bring 500,000 attendees to the region during the tournament.
The Chamber has a pivotal role to play in this unprecedented moment. Our businesses and organizations will be at the forefront of welcoming international guests, providing world-class services, and showcasing the best of what our region has to offer. To put our best foot forward, the Chamber will continue to advocate for Pennsylvania transportation funding, ensuring visitors and residents can seamlessly travel to the major events in 2026.
We’ll also focus on telling the positive story of our region to the world and leveraging that attention to further our job growth strategies. Alongside our partners, the Chamber plans to capitalize on these events as a business attraction opportunity, connecting with prominent site selectors who help businesses find the best locations for their operations.
The events of 2026 present an unparalleled opportunity for Greater Philadelphia to shine on the global stage. The Chamber is committed to ensuring that our region exceeds expectations in welcoming the world. By advocating for essential transportation investments, promoting our region’s strengths, and fostering business growth, we aim to create a lasting legacy of economic prosperity. Together, we will seize this moment to showcase the very best of Greater Philadelphia, leaving an indelible mark on all who visit and participate in these historic celebrations.
