What are some barriers you think exist in creating a successful cannabis industry?
There are many barriers facing the cannabis industry and many opportunities as well. On the legislative side, our industry has overcome many challenges and setbacks. The 2014 and 2018 Federal Farm Bills were big victories, but there is still more territory to cover.
There are many negative stigmas based on fear and misinformation that have denied people the opportunity to explore whether cannabis can help them on their wellness journey. We need to shift the conversation towards educating people on these products and how they might help them safely and responsibly.
We want to shift conversations about cannabis toward deeper understanding and acceptance. There are many potential benefits when cannabis is used responsibly and safely. Delta-8 THC, Delta-9 THC, CBD, CBG, and CBN are just a few of over 100 cannabinoids within the cannabis plant. These cannabinoids have unique properties that can help our bodies reduce inflammation and maintain homeostasis through interacting with our bodies’ endocannabinoid system. Cannabis products have the capacity to provide people with relief, allowing them to thrive in their everyday lives.
We would be remiss if we did not call attention to the disproportionately negative effects the vilifying of cannabis has had on people of color. As this industry charges ahead, it is critical to be mindful of social equity. We cannot afford to get complacent or apathetic. As advocates for cannabis education, we are committed to creating open, inviting, and educationally-driven spaces to empower our customers to sleep well, wake well, and live well.
