How can higher education institutions upskill individuals, both employed and looking for work, to prepare them for the future of digital and remote work?
Remote work is becoming more common due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to stay competitive in the marketplace, workers and entrepreneurs must continue to adapt to the digital transformation in the workplace. Without recognizable skills in the digital tools that manage collaborative work, essential workers will not have the training to transition into new career pathways in non-essential industries. Similarly, if non-essential workers cannot build foundational skills in these same tools, then advancement is beyond their reach.
Drexel University has long been an investor in the advancement of incumbent workers with our Skills Hub and workforce development programs at the Dornsife Center being recent demonstratives of our collective civic commitment. Known for innovative and relevant learning, our team has created a new technical training program for both non-essential and essential industries and workers. Industry-recognized credentials in Microsoft Office and Salesforce enrich talent with a potential to match prospective and incumbent employees to rewarding and sustainable career opportunities in the 21st century. From the life sciences, local government, sales and customer management, and nonprofit organizations, these two computer software programs have transformed how we conduct daily business and will continue to do so into the future.
Newly, Drexel’s Beachell Family Learning Center is launching a 20-week online training program for community members to gain these valuable technology credentials. The training program will have a mix of synchronous and asynchronous group sessions that will start Wednesday, September 2, 2020.
This training is free and open to anyone who resides in Philadelphia, though West Philadelphians are strongly encouraged to apply. The MOS–Salesforce Administrator credential program applications can be found here. Applications require a resume and LinkedIn profile and are due Monday, August 24.
