A message from the Chamber’s President & CEO Rob Wonderling to our community.

In spite of continued economic uncertainty brought about by the pandemic, there are still bright spots of growth in our region and glimpses of the future we had been planning just six short months ago.

Part of that future has been reaffirmed through our Recharge and Recovery effort, where regional leaders have underscored the importance of the health and life sciences industries as engines for growth in our region.

Just last month, our region welcomed Idorsia to establish its U.S. commercial operations in Radnor, PA. Founded only three years ago, this Swiss biotech startup is now 800 employees strong and looking to ramp up the U.S. operations… right here in Greater Philadelphia.

Your Chamber is working with partners to advance efforts to fill the gaps in critical infrastructure for emerging health and life sciences companies. Ensuring our region is home to the facilities that can support advanced R&D, development, and manufacturing capabilities that are critical to continuing to welcome companies like Idorsia to the neighborhood.

While the majority of our community focuses, and rightly so, on operating safely, the Chamber’s Select Greater Philadelphia Council (Select) is working to continue to attract businesses to our region. And we’re now doing so with a laser focus on the industries, such as health and life sciences, and activities that will create momentum for our region as we work towards recovery.

Our CEO Council for Growth has been working with this focus for years. This group of more than 60 influential leaders is leading our region forward by envisioning a stronger, more competitive community. A community that’s prepared to play to its strengths through a targeted approach to stabilizing and growing our region.

As we continue to look for opportunities to leverage this visionary leadership of our CEO Council, we’ve found a home for the critical business attraction work of this vision in Select and its longstanding commitment that business is greater here.
