The Chamber is working to create safe spaces for the continued exchange of ideas and connections as the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation evolves in our region.
We are currently evaluating event cancellation, postponement, and virtual attendance on a case-by-case basis. These decisions are being made primarily based on event size and speaker availability, as many events feature speakers from outside the region. Event attendees will be notified directly if there is a change in date or format. We are working with each of our venues to ensure that they are taking appropriate precautions for the health and wellbeing of our attendees during events that will proceed on as planned.
We encourage our community to take protective and preventative measures while attending events and meetings to mitigate the spread of COVID-19:
- DO cough and sneeze into your elbow or a tissue
- DO use hand sanitizer and wash hands frequently with soap and hot water
- DO NOT attend a meeting or event if you are feeling sick
- DO NOT shake hands or hug
- DO NOT exchange business cards
- DO NOT share items such as pens or pencils
Coronavirus symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. If you are sick with these, or other flu-like symptoms, please seek medical attention and refrain from attending events and public gatherings until your symptoms have subsided. If you believe that you may be at an elevated risk of contracting COVID-19 or if any of the following applies to you (now or at any time that circumstances change in the future) please refrain from attending events and public gatherings for the recommended 14-day monitoring period after exposure:
- Recent (within the last 14 days) travel to China (including Hong Kong), Iran, Italy, Japan, South Korea or Singapore
- Close contact with someone who has recently (within the last 14 days) been to any of the countries above, particularly if that person is experiencing any symptoms
- Recent (within the last 14 days) contact with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19
We will continue to assess the situation as more information becomes available and communicate to members and event attendees as these developments demand.
