The following letter was sent by the PHL Neighborhood Growth Project to neighborhood, business, and civic leaders.
We want Philadelphia to reach its full potential by fostering an environment that produces high-quality, high-wage 21st-century jobs that lay the foundation for an inclusive economy with opportunities for everyone. Right now while some of our neighborhoods are flourishing, we must face the fact that we’re still the poorest big city in the country.
We believe a smart government invests in its people to bring real change. We also recognize that all businesses start as small businesses, and that’s why we’re fighting to make sure City Hall focuses on supporting initiatives and reforms that promote inclusive growth and good jobs all while protecting neighborhoods and small business owners.
During the PHL Neighborhood Growth Project Inclusive Growth Hearing, business owners and neighborhood leaders will share how they are investing in inclusive growth and promoting and creating good jobs in our city. Our panelists for the “Inclusive Growth and Good Jobs” portion of our hearing will be Shalimar Thomas, Executive Director of North Broad Renaissance; John Grady, President and CEO of PIDC; Paul Mason, Principal at David Mason & Associates; and Ashely Putnam, Director of Economic Growth & Mobility Project at the Federal Reserve Bank.
This hearing is our chance to present the PHL NGP Inclusive Growth Agenda to City Hall and demonstrate how when we all come together, we can find the right solutions for the right neighborhoods and we can all share in an inclusive prosperity.
