This spring In Harrisburg, a number of Grow PA bills moved forward and a number will likely see action this fall. We’ll be sure to keep you updated about upcoming hearings, floor action, and opportunities to advocate for Grow PA.
We successfully advocated for legislation to expand Pennsylvania’s Pipeline Investment Program (PIPE), which provides grants to construct the last few miles of natural gas distribution lines. The measure makes grants available to large residential conversion projects and combined heat and power (CHP) applications. The bill, House Bill 1103, got rolled into the Fiscal Code as SB 712 during one of the remaining session days.
This important measure will help encourage companies to locate and expand here as well as grow jobs.
State Senator Bob Mensch’s bill, SB 596 to establish a transportation fueling infrastructure network for electric vehicles was introduced and is awaiting action in the fall in the Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee.
A Grow PA bipartisan Schools to Work bill, HB 796 was amended into SB 89 becoming part of the Education Code bill and was signed into law by Governor Tom Wolf.
Numerous other career and technical education bills made their way through the legislature that were championed by Grow PA’s network of advocates including HB 522, to support investment in a Career and Technical Education by establishing a CTE Incentive Program which would provide tax credits to businesses that contribute to CTE scholarships or purchase equipment for career and technical partnership organizations.
The Pennsylvania House of Representatives will return on September 17th and the Pennsylvania Senate will return on September 23rd. We encourage you to reach out to your legislator and urge them to prioritize pro-growth policies in our state.
