Sreynuon M. joined the Chamber’s Marketing team last February as an intern while she was a high school senior. She was hired through the Hub at PA CareerLink® West, a resource that connected employers with talent in the West Philadelphia Promise Zone. Given her enthusiasm and promise, the Chamber welcomed her back for the summer, this time as a WorkReady intern.

WorkReady is a citywide career readiness initiative managed by the Philadelphia Youth Network. For over a decade, the Chamber has been an enthusiastic employer partner of this impactful program.

WorkReady provides meaningful career exposure to our city’s in-school and out-of-school youth and young adults. Participants, who range from ages 14 – 21, complete a six-week summer job with participating employers. This model provides a critical entry point for these youth to our city’s workforce.

Through her tenure with us, Sreynuon learned valuable professional skills that she will carry with her as she enters her freshman year at Drexel University and for future jobs.

Sreynuon is just one example among many of how WorkReady provides meaningful career exposure to our city’s youth and incorporates each individual into our city’s workforce.

Ways your business can get involved (via WorkReady.org):

  • Financially sponsor a young person’s summer work experience
  • Hire a young person at your workplace
  • Get recognition for your pre-existing summer internship program with the WorkReady Seal of Approval

Will you join us in this important effort?
