Why is it important that employers encourage employees to enroll in mentorship programs and build connections? How does this attract and retain talent for your organization?
Our people are our differentiator with our clients. Their engagement and development are critical to building sustainable growth for our business. Mentors are a key relationship for engaging employees, as they encourage the development of their knowledge-base, network, and career.
In my career, I’ve experienced firsthand the power of creating a network of support that you can turn to for advice. An early mentor taught me the importance of simultaneously developing solid technical skills and building strong relationships as a professional. Mastering both disciplines was emphasized as the key to career success and seeing my mentor in action influenced my approach to personal development and client service, which has served me well over the years in building my practice.
By developing a rapport with contacts outside of your business, you can also gain access to honest advice from people with different perspectives who can help you grow and understand the bigger picture of business.
Mentoring the next generation of leaders is a critical part of EisnerAmper’s philosophy, and our mission for employees is focused on improving the opportunities available to them. Our goals for EisnerAmper’s mentoring program include providing tools and resources for a successful career, promoting growth and development, connecting with and learning from colleagues, and contributing to the firm’s collaborative and supportive culture. By engaging employees in this program, we are able to enhance the working environment, improving outcomes for team members, clients, and the larger organization. Our mentoring program opens up new opportunities to staff members and helps us support them better on their career development path.
The benefits of the mentor-mentee relationship are numerous for the participants, and the direct impact on any company which undertakes such a program includes employee engagement and cross-functional knowledge sharing. Mentoring programs are simply a winning strategy for any company looking to develop stronger, more engaged team members. The employees, the firm, our clients, and the greater business community all benefit in the process.
