On Thursday, May 12, over 135 regional business people spent their morning reading to Philadelphia public school children in 25 schools across the city. This year, 664 new books were ordered to be provided for the classrooms.

The Chamber’s Read to Me Storyteller Event, now in its 12th year and part of the year-long Read to Me Early Literacy Program, aims to inspire children to read with their families and caregivers and promote early literacy at the most critical time of learning. The Read to Me Early Literacy Program aligns with other literacy initiatives of the School District of Philadelphia, the City of Philadelphia, READ! By 4th, and other foundations, programs and organizations.

We’d like to thank all of the storytellers that participated this year, as well as PNC Grow Up Great, The School District of Philadelphia, Chubb, UnitedHealthcare, and Visual Marketing Resources, Inc. for their support of this year’s program.
