PHILADELPHIA, Wednesday, October 22, 2014 – The Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce (the Chamber) in partnership with Councilman Kenyatta Johnson hosted its second Listening Tour session in the Roadmap for Growth campaign on Monday, October 20 in the evening. Community and civic groups, engaged residents, Partner organizations and others discussed the best ideas to encourage economic growth and create jobs. About 45 people attended Monday night’s meeting.

 

“Listening to Philadelphia residents and community groups share about their thoughts on how to grow the city is integral to this campaign,” said Joe Grace, Director of Public Policy for the Chamber. “Our second Listening Tour session allowed us to converse with a diverse audience and produced some great ideas.”

 

Some of the suggestions from the dialogue include:

-Reevaluate if areas are correctly zoned for residential, commercial or industrial given logistical and geographical advantages;
-Connect young professionals with community organizations, schools and other residents to strengthen ties and engage on important issues like education;
-Improve access to capital for small and medium businesses so that they can continue to grow.
