While I am an avid reader of non-fiction, for my next book I decided to read the Free Library of Philadelphia’s One Book, One Philadelphia choice The Yellow Birds by Kevin Powers (as suggested by Chamber Board member and library president, Siobhan Reardon). The book is about two American soldiers stationed in Iraq. It’s a remarkable story of how war affects these young boys, their friends and families. As the situation in Iraq continues to change, the story reminds us once again of the extraordinary sacrifice America’s service men and women have made (and are making) on behalf of all of us. We also recognize the many Chamber members who work closely with veterans throughout the region, including Allied Barton, Comcast, Lockheed Martin, Walmart and WaWa to name a few).
