The Arts & Business Council of Greater Philadelphia is proud to announce the launch of Designing Leadership in March of 2014. This new executive development program, with a focus on emerging arts, culture and creative sector leaders, will encourage effective local leadership and cultivate a creative sector that is more sustainable and impactful.

This five-session program, taught by expert consultants from IBM and faculty from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, will focus on competencies such as individual leadership style, collaboration, strategic sustainability and human capital. Participants will benefit from the world-class instruction of our esteemed faculty as well as the shared experience of collaborating with their creative peers.

Ideal participants will have 5-15 years of management and/or leadership experience and will currently manage staff within the nonprofit arts and culture or for-profit creative sectors.

Jane Golden, Executive Director, City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, is participating in the program as a creative sector mentor and she had this to say; “Designing Leadership will bolster the next generation of creative economy leaders across the Greater Philadelphia region. The program provides a much needed opportunity for creative professionals to actively engage with each other in a professional development context, building personal, organizational and civic leadership skills that will shape the direction of our sector in the years to come.”

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of management skills and leadership challenges, cultivate professional connections and improve their leadership confidence and motivation.
