Yesterday, Philadelphia City Council approved a two-year lease extension for Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) that will run through June 30, 2015. The extension was agreed upon earlier in the year by the City of Philadelphia, US Airways, and all PHL’s airlines and will lead the way for $734 million in capital investments that include modernization improvements to both the airfield and terminal sides of the airport. Several of the projects included are part of PHL’s Capacity Enhancement Program (CEP). A full list of the projects can be found here.
The CEO Council for Growth commends members of City Council, the City of Philadelphia, US Airways, and all PHL’s airlines for their work on this important lease extension. This agreement is a great step forward in helping to increase our region’s global connectivity and economic impact.
