The CEO Council for Growth (CEO Council) is happy to report that the Senate Judiciary Committee approved the comprehensive immigration bill, Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act (S. 744) last week.  The legislation will now move to the floor for a vote by the full Senate next month.

The CEO Council supports several key immigration reforms contained in the bill:

• Expansion of H-1B visas for highly-skilled immigrant workers
• Establishment of the Invest Visa program—an entrepreneur visa program
• Increased availability of green cards for STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) graduates from U.S. universities
• Elimination of Country-Based Caps for employment-based visas

In late April, staff of the CEO Council spent time in Washington D.C. communicating our leadership’s position on high-skilled immigration reform to several offices of members of the Greater Philadelphia region’s Congressional Delegation.

As the Senate floor debate is set to begin in early June, the CEO Council encourages members of the regional business community to reach out to members of the regional Congressional delegation to show your support for high-skilled worker reforms.
