The CEO Council for Growth (CEO Council) recently sent a letter to Senators Carper (DE-D), Coons (DE-D), Lautenberg (NJ-D), Menendez (NJ-D), Casey (PA-D) and Toomey (PA-R) urging them to consider high-skilled immigration reform a top priority on their legislative agenda.

The CEO Council believes that a key part of the Greater Philadelphia region’s future success and competitiveness depends on the ability to help highly skilled immigrants who have studied in STEM fields in the United States obtain visas and green cards in order to fill positions in the innovation sector and start new businesses.

Specifically, the CEO Council hopes that Congress will take steps to:

  • Increase the availability of permanent resident visas (green cards) for STEM graduates and workers;
  • Create new visas for immigrant entrepreneurs who launch businesses in the U.S.; and
  • Streamline the process to obtain and maintain student visas and work permits.
