The Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Denise Morrison, President and Chief Executive Officer of Campbell Soup Company, will receive the 2013 Paradigm Award, the region’s most prestigious award for businesswomen.
The award is presented annually to a singular woman in business whose outstanding professional and personal achievements serve as a model of excellence. The honoree’s leadership and dedication contribute significantly to the Greater Philadelphia region, and she is respected in her profession and throughout the community for her commitment to excellence and her vision for women and future generations.
“Denise is an outstanding leader in business and within our communities,” said GPCC President and CEO Rob Wonderling. “She brings over 30 years of remarkable success to one our region’s most iconic brands and continues to grow its presence with ease. She is a remarkable model of success for all professionals within the Greater Philadelphia business community.”
Ms. Morrison has over 30 years of experience in the food industry and brings a distinguished track record of success to her position at Campbell Soup Company. She joined Campbell in 2003 as President-Global Sales & Chief Customer Officer and then became President-Campbell USA and Senior Vice President & President-North American Soup, Sauces and Beverages. In 2010, she was named Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and then named President & CEO in 2011, becoming the 12th leader of the 143-year-old company.
Prior to joining Campbell, Ms. Morrison served as Executive Vice President and General Manager of Kraft Foods’ Snacks and Confections divisions, where she was responsible for leading such iconic brands as Planters nuts, Life Savers candies and Altoids mints. She also held various roles of increasing responsibility at Nabisco, Nestle, Pepsi-Cola and Procter & Gamble.

In addition to being an outstanding business leader, Ms. Morrison is also actively involved in the community, leveraging her experience in the food industry to help others. She is a founding member of the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation, an initiative of manufacturing retailers to combat obesity in the marketplace, workplace and schools. Denise serves on the board of Childhood Obesity 180, a diverse group of leaders working to reverse the trend of obesity in the United States. Denise is also on the board of the Grocery Manufacturers Association, where she chairs its Health and Wellness Committee, and on the Consumers Goods Forum. In addition, she was named to President Barack Obama’s Export Council in 2012 and currently sits on the board of directors for Catalyst and Enactus.
On Friday, March 15, 2013, the business community will celebrate Ms. Morrison’s accomplishments with the presentation of the Paradigm crystal sculpture at a luncheon at the Hyatt at the Bellevue. Ms. Morrison will also designate $25,000 in charitable gifts provided with support from Ernst & Young.
In addition, the program will also include the Paradigm Scholarship for Working Women, which awards several women up to $5,000 in merit-based scholarships to help complete their undergraduate degrees while working full-time at Chamber member companies. A special presentation will be made to the Stradley Ronon scholar.
Awarded annually since 1992, Denise Morrison is the 21st Paradigm honoree. She is joining a distinguished field of past recipients that includes Rosemary Turner of UPS, Lynn Elsenhans, formerly of Sunoco, Mary Stengel Austen of Tierney, Judy Spires, formerly of Acme Markets, and Renee Amoore of The Amoore Group.
