Nigro’s Auto Body opened in 1983, and has spent many of those years at their current location of 939 Washington Avenue, in the heart of the Bella Vista area of Philadelphia. Nigro’s is dedicated to their neighborhood more than anything else.
Nigro’s will be honored with the Customer Service Excellence of the Year award at the Chamber’s 30th annual Excellence Awards on Thursday, November 15. The award is sponsored by Bank of America. You can register for the awards ceremony here.
We recently sat down with Dom Nigro, owner of Nigro’s Auto Body, to ask him about his company and the award.
What is Nigro’s role in the Greater Philadelphia business community?
Our main goal is to educate the city, and most specifically our clients, on auto repair and how to deal with insurance companies. We often find that customers don’t know enough about repairs, which can make dealing with an accident and their insurance company difficult. We have taken it upon ourselves to sit with each customer and explain their repairs thoroughly in order to make their claims run smoothly.
As a small business, how has your company built a name for itself?
As a small business we get most of our clients through referrals, as well as building great relationships with repeat customers and people in the community. We also have a lot of unique marketing tools such as automotive based educational classes and smart phone apps. We are also AskPatty Female Friendly Certified, AAA Certified, voted best auto repair shop in Best of Philly, ABRN Top Shop in the country and many more.
What are the benefits of operating a small business in the Greater Philadelphia region?
The connection with clients is most definitely the greatest benefit of operating a small business. The Greater Philadelphia region has a great deal of close knit communities, which is something that we love being a part of. Being able to have all of our employees have a relationship is something we strive for- and as a small business this is achievable. These relationships also aid us in building our clientele, because word of mouth is often the best form of marketing.
What does receiving the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce’s Customer Service Excellence of the Year award mean to you and your business?
Receiving the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce’s Customer Service Excellence of the Year award is not only a validation of our business practices, but also winning an award from such a prestigious group will definitely help us with business.
Why is it important for small businesses to be recognized?
