The Epoch Times is pleased to invite community members to a private screening of a new documentary, FREE CHINA: The Courage to Believe. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Michael Perlman (Tibet: Beyond Fear), this film tells the powerful story of a Chinese American businessman and a former Communist Party member who, despite overwhelming pressure by the Chinese government, remain steadfast in their beliefs.
FREE CHINA sheds light on widespread abuses taking place under the façade of economic prosperity. It is an important film for those of us who work directly with Chinese corporations and for any consumer of Chinese products. This groundbreaking documentary points out that the victims of the Chinese government’s horrendous practices are not only those in China, but outside as well. Profound implications, ranging from labor practices and product safety, are noted within the context of one of the worst crimes against humanity that the world has ever known.
Since its completion earlier this year, FREE CHINA: The Courage to Believe, has won seven major awards at film festivals around the country. After seeing this film, Margaret Chew Barringer, founder of www.AmericanINSIGHT.org, commented: “I hope this film changes our world.”
As the world turns to China to further growth and development, FREE CHINA offers us a unique perspective on our relationship with the second largest economy in the world and offers insights into what is being done to offer freedom from a tyrannical dictatorship. It is a remarkably moving portrayal of courage and conviction and a truly inspiring film.
We hope to see you at the screening.
