Business Backstage: Unique Events for Arts Minded Professionals
During its 14 year run, the Arts & Business Council’s Business Backstage series has taken the business, legal and technology communities on a journey through Philadelphia’s vibrant arts and cultural scene. This exploration continues in 2012-2013 with four events that will educate, entertain and connect attendees to one another and the creative environments that make Philadelphia stand out, according to travel guru Arthur Frommer, as America’s burgeoning art capital.
This year’s series marks a partnership with the Greater Philadelphia Tourism and Marketing Corporation’s With Art Philadelphia initiative. With Art is a two-year campaign that aims to celebrate Philadelphia’s place among the world’s great art destinations; draw more and new audiences interested in curating their own Philadelphia experiences; and generate overnight stays from visitors worldwide. As a With Art partner, the Arts & Business Council will introduce the business sector to arts and cultural institutions throughout Philadelphia; building new audiences and educating the professional community about the creative opportunities that make our city exciting.
Three of the dates and venues for this year’s four event series have been confirmed:
- November 1, 2012 – Rodin Museum
- March 1, 2013 – Philadelphia International Flower Show
- March 27, 2013 – Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts (PIFA), Kimmel Center
Each event features ample networking time, light food and drink and an exclusive, behind-the-scenes experience provided by our arts and cultural host organization. The Flower Show and PIFA events will take place before their official openings; providing a sneak peak for Business Backstage attendees.
Our first Backstage event will be held at the newly remodeled Rodin Museum; home to a casting of The Thinker, Auguste Rodin’s iconic sculpture of a man seated in contemplation. The museum, located on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, houses over 140 pieces produced by this prolific, 19th century artist. The event will provide an inside look at the newly renovated galleries and grounds as presented by expert museum staff.
