This is a region committed to service. With more than 1 million volunteers serving 100 million hours each year, the dedication is clear. At United Way, we help people by giving, advocating and volunteering.

In support of the volunteer part of that effort, we recently finalized a merger with Greater Philadelphia Cares, together becoming a stronger, more unified community organization. In Greater Philadelphia Cares, we saw a like-minded mission that could bolster our efforts with strong relationships and powerful programs.

By coming together, we truly feel that we will be better able to serve the community, providing meaningful volunteer opportunities for individuals, community groups and corporations alike through the newly-formed Community Action Center. Our goal is to connect the “want” of volunteers to the needs of the community.

United Way feels strongly that collaboration and synergies among non-profits are an important way that we can make an even stronger impact in the community and increase nonprofits’ effectiveness and efficiency; which in the end, means that our donors’ investments are used most effectively.
