The Arthritis Foundation’s Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter is hosting the 6th Annual Philadelphia Arthritis Walk at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Park on Saturday, May 19, 2012 and the 6th Annual South New Jersey Walk at Challenge Grove Park in Cherry Hill, New Jersey on Sunday, May 20, 2012. The Arthritis Walk is a community event where teams from schools, churches, local businesses, civic groups and neighborhoods come together to show support for those who battle with arthritis.
The mission of the Arthritis Foundation is to support research to find the cure for and prevention of arthritis and to improve the quality of life for those affected by arthritis. This mission is supported by a four-part strategy: Research and Training, Quality of Life, Awareness, and Advocacy. We offer local programs and services to assist individuals in developing or accessing the resources to cope with their condition. These vital services include information and education forums, exercise classes and self-help programs. We host our two signature fundraising events, the Arthritis Walk and Jingle Bell Run/Walk 5K, to raise much needed funds to support our programs and services and continue our education and awareness of arthritis and related rheumatic diseases. Since 1948, the Arthritis Foundation nationally has been able to reward over $400 million to support more than 1,700 scientists and physicians in arthritis research.
Spread the arthritis awareness message at one of our local Arthritis Walks. Choose from a 1 or 3 mile option and enjoy the fun through kid activities, entertainment, wellness expo and light refreshments.
