Join nearly 150 regional business professionals as a storyteller in the 8th annual Read to Me Early Literacy Storyteller Event on May 4 to inspire early literacy in Philadelphia public schools. Storytellers will spend the morning reading to a classroom of Philadelphia school children following a networking breakfast with other top business and community leaders.

The Read to Me Early Literacy Storyteller Event is part of the annual Read to Me Early Literacy Program, a year-long program that provides quality classroom book collections to thousands of pre-k and kindergarten students and inspires them to read with their parents, caregivers and teachers throughout the school year. Your participation as a storyteller will help fund the Read to Me Early Literacy Program and the purchase of these classroom book collections.

Learn how you can become a storyteller.

The Read to Me Early Literacy Program was developed by Lynn Rosenthal, an award winning reading specialist in Philadelphia city schools for more than 30 years. In addition to providing Philadelphia pre-k and kindergarten students with quality classroom book collections, the program also provides teacher orientations that train educators on how to effectively bring the program into their classrooms, and parent workshops that encourage caregivers to read aloud to their children at home.

Over the past seven years, the Read to Me Early Literacy Program and the Read to Me Early Literacy Storyteller Event have cultivated numerous relationships between the business community and participating schools. Many business leaders that have participated as readers continue to provide support for the program through book drives, donations, art work contests and returning to read to students throughout the school year.
