Regional business professionals gathered this week at the Chamber’s “Innovations in Technology: Changing the Way We Do Business” event to explore the latest innovative technology opportunities. The event, which was sponsored by SAP and held at Quorum, an innovative meeting space located in the University City Science Center, featured a keynote presentation by Adel Ebeid, Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) for the City of Philadelphia. The event also included a panel discussion with regional companies using new technologies.
Mr. Ebeid, who was appointed CIO in August 2011, provided a fresh perspective on the city’s current IT landscape as well as its technology agenda for the next 12-18 months. He also addressed the city’s investment and prioritization frameworks and its plans to integrate innovative technologies, including moving all public domain to a public cloud.
The panel discussion, which featured companies using innovative technologies, revolved around the opportunities and challenges behind integrating and using technologies and how these new opportunities can help businesses function more effectively. The panelists consisted of Dr. Bobbe Baggio, Program Director, M.S. in Instructional Technology Management, La Salle University; Suzanne Keenan, SVP of Technology, Wawa; Peter Ritz, President, Xtium; and R. Osbourne Whitesell, Business Director, MKJ Creative. The discussion was moderated by Dan Finley, SAP Global Director, Business Development, SAP.
