If your New Year’s resolutions include professional development, community involvement and/or tapping into the region’s rich cultural offerings, it’s time you get to know the Arts & Business Council.
The Council’s skills-based volunteer programs Business Volunteers for the Arts (BVA) and Technology Connectors (TC) offer you consulting, leadership and project management experience—all while helping to strengthen management and operations of local nonprofit arts and culture organizations.
- BVA volunteers consult on projects that include strategic planning, marketing and public relations, financial systems and processes, and human resources management.
- TC volunteers consult on technology assessment, technology planning and implementation projects.
As a new BVA or TC volunteer, you begin with a half-day class designed to orient you to the region’s arts sector and prepare you for consulting assignments. Next, you are matched by program directors on carefully curated projects that align with your skills, interests and geography. You can expect to spend 5 to 10 hours a month on a project, and most projects last about 6 months.
The next BVA/TC class is Thursday, February 16, from 1:00 to 5:30 pm at GPCC. The Council is actively recruiting business and technology professionals with 5 or more years of experience for this class. Please visit our website to apply or learn more.
A one-time fee of $250 covers training as well as project matching/support for as long as you remain involved. Our recent report on volunteer impact shows this small investment pays big dividends.
