Scott Mirkin thrives on live events and the fast pace of managing multiple moving parts on deadline. The award-winning producer prides himself on his meticulous planning and operational efficiency tools where mass audiences experience an unprecedented event experience, whether they are witnessing the President speak or watching The Roots jam to over half a million fans.
Mirkin developed his passion for live event production at the age of seven, when he shadowed his father at work as a broadcast engineer at KYW-TV. At age 18, he launched his career with an audio visual company, producing live events and packaging and selling turnkey solutions for production.
Mirkin decided to open his own event production company in 1996. He quickly developed a strong working knowledge of how to produce large-scale events, and his technical background gained him the respect of the production unions. He is one of the few producers to be nationally recognized by IATSE.
In 1997 Mirkin landed the role of producer of the President’s Summit for America’s Future, where, at 27, he was responsible for the set, stage and sound design. He worked directly with the current and former presidents, cabinet members, celebrities and the Secret Service. The White House has given Mirkin three outstanding service awards for his work producing policy speeches that ran on network television. Mirkin has also produced both of Gov. Rendell’s gubernatorial inaugurals, Mayor Nutter’s Inaugural Celebration, and Election Night 2004 in Boston’s Copley Square for network television.
Mirkin is particularly proud of his work producing the 2008 World Series Champions Celebration and the Welcome America Festival; Mirkin currently serves as Executive Producer of Welcome America. The 2010 Concert had nearly 600,000 people in attendance, earning the title of the Largest Free Concert in America.
A Philadelphia native, Mirkin serves on the boards of numerous civic organizations including The Committee of Seventy, Greater Philadelphia Cares (Chairman Emeritus) and The Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. He is a founding member of the Chamber’s Young Professionals Network and also serves on the Chamber’s Executive Committee.
