Andrew C. Kerin, Group President, Global Food, Hospitality and Facility Services for ARAMARK, has been named City Year Greater Philadelphia’s 2011 Idealist of the Year, City Year’s highest recognition.
The award will be presented at City Year Greater Philadelphia’s Tribute Dinner on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 6:00 p.m., at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP and PepsiCo/Pepsi-Cola & National Brand Beverages, Ltd. are the Event Sponsors, and Joe Banner of the Philadelphia Eagles, Jeffrey A. Honickman of Pepsi-Cola & National Brand Beverages, Ltd., and Steven R. Wall of Morgan Lewis are serving as Event Chairs.

Under Mr. Kerin’s leadership, ARAMARK has helped strengthen City Year’s organizational and talent development functions to prepare City Year to help more students graduate and succeed. Since 2008, ARAMARK has been involved with City Year as a National Leadership Sponsor as well as a local Team Sponsor. The ARAMARK partnership leverages a shared commitment to service and a vision of community and student success.
ARAMARK also supports the City Year School Relations Knowledge Center to enhance City Year’s ability to develop and sustain comprehensive, high impact partnerships with school districts, to identify a diverse corps through recruitment campaigns on college and university campuses, and is City Year’s Official Apparel Partner. As part of ARAMARK Building Community, City Year corps members lead thousands of ARAMARK employees in service projects to strengthen community centers and enrich the lives of children and families each year.
On May 11, more than 200 ARAMARK volunteers donated their time to tackle critical community issues in the Greater Philadelphia community. Led by City Year corps members, ARAMARK Volunteers at the Lighthouse in the Kensington section of Philadelphia and Respond Inc. in Camden helped improve facilities and their programs, increasing their capacity to provide much-needed solutions to the residents they serve.
