Verizon Wireless Philadelphia region employees recently donated more than 1,000 backpacks filled with personal care items, clothing and toys to children living in domestic violence shelters across the tri-state area. The employee-driven initiative is part of an annual program called “Packs for Pride,” made possible through the company’s HopeLine program. Over the past 11 years, more than 10,000 “care packages” have been donated through Packs for Pride.
Attending the ceremony held at the Verizon Wireless store at 12th and Market Street in Philadelphia from Verizon Wireless, were: Joseph Faust, Director of Indirect Sales; Ian Yahya, Regional Director of Retail Sales and Operations; Israel McKnight, Manager, Reading Terminal Headhouse Verizon Wireless Store; Gina Rosell, Associate Director of Marketing; Mario Turco, Philadelphia Tri-State Area Regional President; and representatives from area domestic violence shelters including: A Woman’s Place, Camden County Women’s Center, Children’s Home of Easton, Glenni Perez, Frances Figueroa-Morgan and Christina Escobar of Congreso, Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence, El Concilio, Police Athletic League of Philadelphia, Providence House, Latin American Community Center, Women Against Abuse and Women in Transition.
