Select Greater Philadelphia, the business marketing affiliate of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce (GPCC), is conducting a survey to determine the types of research and development (R&D) activities that are performed in the Greater Philadelphia Region (GPR). Select is increasingly finding that the existence of a large and diverse R&D cluster is a major regional competitive advantage, and that having detailed knowledge about the characteristics of this cluster is very useful in its business development and marketing activities. The survey’s objectives are to:
- Identify organizations that perform R&D activities in the region:
- Describe the characteristics of these organizations;
- Identify the different fields of R&D being performed in the GPR;
- Designate the primary type of R&D activity for each field; and
- Describe the types of facilities and equipment used in R&D.
As a member of the GPCC, we are asking you to consider taking Select’s survey if your organization conducts R&D activities within the 11-county GPR; or to forward this email and the link to the survey form located on Survey Monkey presented below, to the persons in your organization who are directly responsible for R&D activities performed in the region. Based on the results of a pre-test, we estimate that it will take less than 10 minutes to complete the survey. The survey can be accessed at the link presented below:
The results of this survey will be published in a report only in summary form, with the individual answers for each respondent kept strictly confidential.
We would like to receive your responses by Friday, April 15, 2011.
Thank you for your time in assisting the GPCC and Select in compiling this essential information. If you or anyone else in your organization has a question about the R&D survey, please feel free to contact Phil Hopkins, Vice President and Director of Research, Select Greater Philadelphia, at 215-790-3744 or email@example.com.
