The Chamber has long been focused on increasing local jobs as a means of enhancing the economic growth of this region. A key component of that growth is the fiscal health and viability of the City of Philadelphia. The GPCC has consistently stated that Business Privilege Tax and Wage Tax Reform remain critical to job creation.
The Chamber recently sent a letter regarding a proposal to amend The Philadelphia Home Rule Charter to provide for the creation, appointment, powers and duties of a 17 member Jobs Commission. The GPCC declined supporting the legislation creating such a commission, because we believe the topic has been studied enough —the time for action is now.
