The Inquirer, Daily News and are launching a search for the best employers in the Philadelphia region – from the point of view of the employees themselves. In addition to their exceptional products and services, companies that receive a Top Workplaces 2011 award provide excellent places to work that are powered by employees who believe in what they are doing. 

Anyone in a company with at least 50 employees can nominate his or her company via a simple application available online at Then, all employees complete a 21-question survey covering their opinions on six key areas of the workplace: direction, execution, career, conditions, managers, and pay and benefits. This helps distinguish companies for their excellent training opportunities, quality management teams or unusual benefits, for example. Next, WorkplaceDynamics, an Exton-based research firm, will analyze the findings and determine the list of the Top Workplaces 2011.

The honor will go to the region’s top 100 workplaces, including the highest-ranked large employers (more than 500 employees), best midsize organizations (150 to 500 employees), and top small firms (fewer than 150). The results will be packaged with in-depth articles on the top workplaces, researched, written and produced in collaboration by The Inquirer and Daily News business departments. Earning a Top Workplaces 2011 title awards a business recognition in its own community – a prestige that helps to attract and retain top employee talent. It renews employee interest and motivates the workplace. It reminds staff members of the pride and passion they feel for their jobs.
