Amy L. Banse, Senior Vice President of Comcast and founder and president of Comcast Interactive Media (CIM), gave a spirited keynote address at our recent Women Take Charge event, which included about a dozen learned tips on how women can find a sense of balance between their professional and personal lives. Among the tips that Banse offered advised attendees to stick to their priorities and avoid the “swirl” of distractions that threaten daily goals, and to maintain a grounded sense of perspective.
“Realize and recognize that a disaster that might seem like a big deal today won’t really be that important later on in the long run,” Banse said.
Attendees also heard from a diverse panel of female professionals as they shared advice on how women can find balance, and provided anecdotes from their own lives that enriched the conversation. The panel discussion was moderated by Lori Greenawalt, Partner, KPMG, LLP.

The panelists, from various backgrounds and lifestyles, emphasized that balance is a unique blend of priorities that is different for each individual. Women can choose to take charge of their balance by knowing and adhering to those priorities that are important to them.
The panelists also stressed that for women who do choose to take charge, “aspiration means you give up a lot of things along the way,” and finding balance in life is both important and difficult.
