Business Description

Playworks’ mission is to improve the health and well-being of children by increasing opportunities for physical activity and safe, meaningful play.

Playworks reaches students at primarily low-income elementary schools and youth organizations in Pennsylvania and the Delaware Valley with four levels of integrated services which rely on the support of skilled adults—whether supplied by Playworks or trained by Playworks—who teach children the social skills necessary to succeed in the classroom and in life.

Playworks is exceptional in delivering a developmentally-appropriate prevention and early intervention program to elementary school children. We are also the only organization to successfully train thousands of school-based staff to leverage play in a manner that teaches the social and emotional skills children need. Students feel physically and emotionally safe, are focused on learning, and apply simple conflict resolution techniques to disagreements.

Playworks, nationally, has a goal that 3.5 million children will experience safe, healthy play by December 2020. In Pennsylvania, our goal is to reach 100,000 children in 200 elementary schools by December 2020. We will be working hard to expand our reach while providing each school and district we serve with high quality programming that is designed to help them build a sustainable program for long-term change.
